CAA CALL TO ACTION
SUPPORT ELIMINATION OF DUAL LICENSURE BILL AB1535
This next hearing will be vital to the survival of AB 1535 in the Senate. You managed to produce almost 300 letters of support when this bill was in the Assembly, but
as predicted, the opposition is gearing up for a HUGE BATTLE in the Senate. We need every audiologist, institution, physician colleague, and consumer to take action NOW!
We need you to write letters again, this time to the Senate Business, Professions, and Economic Development Committee.
To help you with this here is a Prototype Letter, as well as the Senate Committee Roster.
Hearing Date: July 6, 2009
So get your letters in no later than July 1st!
If your own Senate Member is a Member of this Committee, send the letter of support to that legislator at his or her Capital office. If your Senate Member is NOT on the committee, please send the letter to:
The Honorable Gloria Negrete-McLeod, Chair
Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee
State Capitol, Room 2053
Sacramento, CA 95814
Attention: Rosielyn Pulmano, Consultant
The fax number for the Chair at the committee address is: 916 445-0128
If you are sending a letter from an organization or facility (clinic, hospital, school, etc.), send your letter to the committee office addressed to the chair, but fax it to Rosielyn Pulmano, Consultant as well ( fax: 916 324-0917)
Please make sure you check the roster to see if you either live or work in the district of one of the 10 Senators. We have two Orange County senators on the committee and a northern San Diego County senator, too, and we had many letters from those areas earlier in our fight.
We especially need audiologists from the Chino, Colton, Fontana, Montclair, Pomona, Rialto and City of San Bernardino areas. This is the Negrete-McLeod district, and she is critically important on this bill
Please cc the committee consultant Rosielyn Pulmano (916 324-0917) and Barry Brokaw (916-448-1121) on all letters.
SEND YOUR LETTERS NOW
Copies of the letter and roster are available on the CAA website. You can also find your Senator by zip code on the governmental affairs page at http://www.caaud.org/governmental_affairs.asp
Inform every California audiologist that you know in the districts represented by the Senate Committee members so they may write a letter. Hear and Be Heard! The time is NOW!
